Abstract:
In the last years much has been said and written about downsizing policies and results. Furthermore, the economic press reveals that theses processes are not yet over, and that they will continue in the near future. In this frame, we have decided to take a closer look to staff restructuring and its main implications for the present economic environment. This paper reflects the key conclusions of an empirical research on these topics carried on the province of Alicante. Also, the likely reasons given and the means applied by organizations for staff restructuring are stated. Finally, the new tendencies on the effects of these processes are explained.
