Abstract:
Over the last decades, the resource-based view of the firm has tried to explain the diversification of the firms. This is an appropriate theory to explain both the type of diversification and the mode of growth. According to this approach, this paper formulates some hypotheses about the diversification strategy that will be tested on a sample of Spanish hotel chains. The data handled in the empirical research is secondary and was drawn from different information sources. The results suggest that some internal variables (size, age, and internal funds) affect the growth decisions and the mode used for implementing these strategies.
