Zusammenfassung:
The goal of this study was to measure and map the agricultural expansion areas for temporary and permanent crops from 1995 to 2023 at the Mato Grosso's microregion level. Data from IBGE were employed, and the methodological approach encompasses three quantitative stages. The results highlight 19 among the 22 evaluated geographical spaces, that is, Aripuanã, Colíder, Parecis, Arinos, Alto Teles Pires, Sinop, Paranatinga, Norte Araguaia, Canarana, Médio Araguaia, Alto Guaporé, Tangará da Serra, Alto Paraguai, Rosário Oeste, Cuiabá, Primavera do Leste, Tesouro, Rondonópolis, and Alto Araguaia. They are especially relevant in the Mato Grosso and Brazil's agricultural expansion process. They exhibit a proportionally high contribution to the increase in the Brazilian farm area, and the more dynamic process is related to the temporary crops, especially cotton, soybean, and corn.
