Abstract (Translated):
The Bolsa Família programme (PBF) has, since its inception, given priority to women as the recipients of the cash benefit. This arrangement makes the connection between the PBF and changes in gender relations the object of several research interests. The purpose of this text is to discuss the findings of this research. The conclusion is that, although its design can reinforce the idea that caregiving is a female responsibility, the PBF leads to the questioning of male authority and broadens the social networks of women, with the potential to yield changes in the structure of gender relations.
