Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
This article compares the reform policies persued in Poland and the Czech Republic since 1990. The different results of the system transformation - economic growth in the case of Poland and macroeconomic stability in the case of Czechia - are explained by considering the different starting-points and county-specific context-conditions. The comparison of the Polish and the Czech transformation paths shows that the chance for a middle- and long-term economic growth combined with economic stability is better for the Czech Republic than for Poland. Poland will only be able to achieve the same result, if the political-institutional framework is improved. Yet, the actual political conditions are not favourable for this.
