Ten years have passed since the Agenda 2010 has drastically changed the institutional conditions on the German labor market. The introduction of mini-and midi-jobs, as well as the combination of unemployment assistance and social assistance to unemployment benefit II has implemented a nationwide combi-wage model. In addition to the theoretical explanation of the effects of a wage subsidy this study is examining the effectiveness of the current combi-wage model. The whole issue is contrasted with the workfare strategy and evaluated by the same analytical framework.
