Abstract:
This paper analyses labour flexibility in direct suppliers of OEMs located in Catalonia, for their adaptation to changes in changes. The use of external flexibility and to have a high percentage of workerson temporary contracts have been common practice of firms when trying to achieve this objective. The higher requirement of OEM to their direct suppliers in price reduction, increases in productivity and the introduction of JIT have given most importance to internal numerical and functional flexibility. From our analysis of a sample of firms we assess in which intensity firms have incorporated the different types of labour flexibility.
