Abstract:
High purchase costs, CO₂ emissions in the production, and range anxiety hinder electric vehicle (EV) adoption despite lifecycle advantages. Based on a stated choice experiment with 2,820 German citizens, this paper examines information treatments addressing these barriers. It is shown that information on lifecycle CO₂ emissions and limited relevance of range anxiety increases EV preferences, especially among frequent drivers, highlighting the effectiveness of targeted information campaigns.
