Abstract:
This paper examines the state-dependent effects of sentiment shocks. It documents asymmetric responses of output and prices when uncertainty, as measured by forecaster disagreement, is high or low. We obtain these results based on time-series data and a theoretical account based on a New Keynesian model with dispersed information.
