Abstract:
Military conflicts shape macroeconomic dynamics by distorting factor allocation and generating cost-push pressures that propagate through global value chains. To quantify the magnitude of conflict-induced macroeconomic spillovers, this paper employs a proxy SVAR to examine the effects of military conflicts on major European economies. The results show that conflict shocks transmitted through import linkages exert a statistically significant effect on production and inflation in Europe.
