Abstract:
The medium-term gain in productivity from AI adoption would be rather modest and about 1.1 percent over five years. While the average gains are modest, they vary considerably across countries. AI could have much larger effects over the longer term by creating new industries and value chains, and accelerating R&D. However, these gains will hinge on efforts to deepen the single market and the calibration of regulation.
