Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
The microcensus collects data on income in two separate ways. Respondents in the entire 1% sample provide a rough self-assessment of their income by selecting predefined income categories, while a subsample participating in the European survey of income and living conditions is asked detailed questions on various income types. The article examines differences in income distribution as measured by the two approaches. The differences have particular implications for the official social reporting system, as indicators for social reporting are determined on the basis of the two data sources and survey designs.
