Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
Agility is often regarded as a response to growing organizational complexity and dynamic. In the German insurance industry, this aspiration encounters a particular tension: traditional corporate structures face new demands such as digitalization, volatile customer needs, and intensifying competition from insurtechs and established insurers. This article examines the specific success factors for implementing agile ways of working in the domains of IT, product development, and customer-oriented processes. Drawing on qualitative expert interviews, both generic and domain-specific success factors are identified. The analysis reveals that a blanket application of agile principles is not effective. Instead, differentiated implementation strategies are required depending on the area of application. Finally, the article derives practiceoriented recommendations that account for the structural, cultural, and regulatory characteristics of the industry. Overall, agility is not a contradiction for insurance companies but rather an opportunity to secure long-term viability and strengthen customer loyalty through targeted transformation.
