Zusammenfassung:
This study aims to summarize the critical idea into a conceptual model to better understand the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism and hospitality industry and synthesize recommendations for future research. Utilizing the Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar database and the judgement sampling approach, 140 full research articles (SSCI index) published in 47 leading tourism and hospitality journals were extracted and analyzed through an integrative review consisting of document and thematic analyses. From document analysis, five dimensions of COVID-19’s impacts on tourism and hospitality were found. Then, thematic content analysis identified 24 topics on COVID-19’s impacts on the tourism and hospitality industry. Contrary to prior literature reviews, this review develops a resilience cycle and COVID-19 impact model on the disruptive tourism and hospitality industry. These theoretical frameworks may offer a way to investigate the new paradigm wherein tourism and hospitality firms can provide better services to their customers during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
