This paper presents the results of a research on the social housing policy in United Kingdom, focusing on the case of England. Section 1, presents an effort to summarize the history of this policy. Section 2, approaches social housing policy in England in now days, through its main programs, as well as the main characteristics of the population served and its dwellings. Section 3, seeks to outline the main features of the institutional architecture that supports this policy
