Abstract (Translated):
In this study, we identify the hydrogen investments and the main routes of hydrogen production in Brazil. We focus on sustainable hydrogen that is obtained from renewable energy sources or using carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) to neutralize emissions. The identified results indicate that Brazil is already receiving a large volume of investment for hydrogen production projects, like coastal industrial clusters that can support the adaptation of CCUS to existing hydrogen plants and have a strategic location for export. In addition, we identify the main public policies for the hydrogen sector in Brazil like the Bill no 725/2022, which includes hydrogen as an energy source in the Brazilian matrix and establishes goals for its insertion into the national gas pipelines. And Decree no 11075, of May 2022, created the regulated carbon market in Brazil.
