Abstract (Translated):
The discussion about precarious labor and its various manifestations has grown rapidly. However, one of the difficulties, and one of the problems, in any attempt to follow the discussion about precarious labor is the lack of homogeneity about the meaning and definition of this category. This article seeks to make a brief recovery of its genesis and initial development where a great conceptual amplitude is already present. In addition, it seeks to establish the need to differentiate precarious labor from informal labor in countries with high penetration of this type of work such as Brazil. With the understanding that the country also suffers a process of growing worker precariousness - a process that changes the characteristics of informality, leading us to take into consideration for the perfect understanding of the reality of the world of labor in the country the category precarious labor - we propose a typology of this form of work in Brazil with the intention of marking future empirical research.
