Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
In immediate media responses, the Apostolic Exhortation „Evangelii Gaudium“ was classified as hostile to markets. This interpretation is wrong. The source for this misunderstanding is that Pope Francis formulates his pastoral message in a language rich in imagery. He uses metaphors derived from individual ethics to describe problems of institutional ethics. This evokes the wrong impression of an anti-modernistic and anti-market tendency, which is clearly not an accurate characterization of the direction this Apostolic Exhortation is aiming at.
