Abstract:
Abstract (Translated):
The article aims to define the social integration of immigrants in a way that takes into consideration the cultural plurality of modern societies. Following the discussion of three classical approaches (Park; Gordon; Esser) which are based on the idea of assimilation in a culturally homogeneous society, a concept of integration is proposed that comprises four attributes: orientation towards the societal standards, two-sidedness, emphasis on integration as a process, and multi-dimensionality. The article concludes with theses on multicultural urban policies.
