Abstract: This paper examines how generative artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated into the strategic management process to strengthen the resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The strategic management process is divided into three phases: First, the collection and structuring of unstructured data from the macro- and microeconomic environment takes place. Here, AI provides support by efficiently collecting and clustering relevant information, enabling decision-makers to better assess current trends and developments. In the second phase, the evaluation of internal resources, AI helps to capture implicit knowledge within the company and systematically analyze it in order to uncover strengths and weaknesses. In the final phase of strategy development, AI combines internal and external data, generates new strategic approaches and thus supports the derivation of concrete fields of action. AI acts as a partner that significantly improves decision-making and strengthens the company's resilience through sound strategic planning.</description>

Abstract: Frugal innovation and frugal engineering are becoming increasingly important in both academic and practical discussions in the face of various economic, social and environmental pressures. Despite numerous positive associations and opportunities of frugality in the corporate environment, the discourse is still characterized by several barriers and enablers that impede a broad diffusion. In our paper, we contrast these barriers and enablers using a mix of industry evidence from action research and interview studies. In doing so, we highlight common misconceptions in the conceptual understanding of frugal engineering and create new perspectives on frugal product development specifically for practitioners in the field.</description>

Abstract: In order to understand generative AI and its mechanisms of action, players need a high level of abstraction (Saitta and Zucker, 2013). However, many companies lack the necessary expertise for the technology. In addition to cultural factors, this lack of expertise is the main barrier to a results-oriented implementation of the technology (Campos Zabala, 2023). To identify valuable fields of application, companies need to understand the expertise in the decision-making processes of their own activities. The article shows concrete examples and steps that companies can use to test and apply new technological possibilities to their own use cases.</description>

Abstract: User innovation contributes significantly to societal advancement, particularly in developing novel products and services, offering substantial financial potential, and fostering the common good. This is particularly evident in medical science, where it addresses diverse needs and is often shared at minimal or no cost. However, the diffusion of user-innovated products remains limited and research on the perception of user-innovated products is rather scarce, reducing their potential contributions to the common good. This paper investigates end-users' perceptions of user innovation, a critical yet underexplored aspect of diffusion. Specifically, using a mixed-methods approach, we examine the influence of product risk classification and community development on the perception of user-innovated medical devices. This study combines qualitative research through semi-structured interviews (n=5) and quantitative research using a 2x3 (User Innovation vs. Producer Innovation; Product risk classification I, II, III) between-subject experiment (n=301). Our findings reveal that end-users evaluate user-innovated and traditionally-innovated products differently based on various criteria. User-innovated products are perceived as more pleasant and attractive, while traditionallyinnovated products are viewed as safer and of higher value. This effect is more pronounced for products with higher risk classifications. However, the perceived lower safety and value of user innovation products result in a reduced willingness to purchase among end-users. Additionally, we find that community-developed user-innovated products consistently outperform in all evaluation categories compared to "pure" user-innovated products.</description>
