Authors: Czechowska, Iwona Dorota; Paduszyńska, Marta
Abstract: The interest in consumer attitudes and role in economic and social life becomes increasingly evident among the representatives of economic sciences and has become a focal point in the financial industry. This issue is not only important for financial institutions in terms of building long-term relationships with customers, but also in terms of maintaining the stability of the financial system and the entire economy. The aim of the article is to assess the relationship between the satisfaction with the bank's products and the customer trust in the bank, considering sociodemographic characteristics and credit profile. Nonparametric tests such as Mann- Witney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test, and the ordinal logistic regression model were used as research methods. The study was conducted based on information obtained from a survey questionnaire (CAWI method) provided to the respondents in June and July 2022. The research sample included borrowers living in Poland, aged 18 or older, with housing loans secured by a mortgage. The study found that there is a strong positive relationship between the satisfaction with bank's products and the customer's trust in the bank, meaning that satisfaction translates positively into the trust in the bank, which is important for earning and maintaining customer loyalty.

Authors: Ziarko-Siwek, Urszula
Abstract: This study examines how effective the Dogs of the Dow (DoD) investment strategy, popular in the USA, was for the Polish blue-chip stock market between 2002-2023. This strategy involves investing the same amount of funds each year in shares of ten companies called Dogs of Dow with the highest dividend yield. The portfolio is then retuned every year - companies that do not meet the aforementioned criterion are removed, and new ones are added. For the entire research period, raw and risk-adjusted annual and five-year rates of return were determined for 10- and 5-component portfolios, taking into account transaction costs and dividend tax. Although both the DoD (YD10) and Puppies of the Dow (YD5) portfolios exceeded the average annual rate of return for the entire research period, it cannot be unequivocally stated that it is an effective and long-term method of beating the market. Neither the one-year nor the multi-period portfolios achieved positive abnormal returns consistently and systematically. Moreover, in most portfolios, the differences between portfolio and index returns were not statistically significant. Similarly, as in some foreign markets, the effectiveness of DoD strategies was higher in the first half of the research period (2002-2011), and declined over time. On the Polish market, as in other foreign markets, it was observed that 5-component portfolios (less diversified portfolios) generated higher returns than 10-component portfolios. The analysis of the effectiveness of the DoD during bull and bear market periods does not allow for a clear conclusion that during downturns this strategy allowed investors to limit their losses relative to the benchmark. Concluding the conducted research, it should be stated that there are no solid grounds to consider this strategy effective on the Polish market for the 2002-2023 period.

Authors: Fuchs, Rosa María; Lopez-Jurado, Renato
Abstract: Currently, both men and women face the challenge of balancing their work and childcare responsibilities, which is not always straightforward. When individuals experience tensions between their work and family life, they are likely to prioritize one over the other, often facing penalties for failing to fulfill a specific role. Thus, the present study aims to examine how people evaluate workers who briefly de-prioritize work or childcare. To achieve this, two experiments were conducted using factorial vignettes. The first experiment examined how briefly de-prioritizing childcare affects an individual's perception in the family domain, considering their gender. The second explored the opposite effect: how briefly de-prioritizing work influences the evaluation of the worker in the workplace, also incorporating gender as a variable. Study 1 had 262 participants and study 2 had 251. Participants were Business students in a private university. To test the hypotheses, each dependent variable was analyzed using a multiple independent group mean comparison. The results showed that even a slight de-prioritization of a role can trigger a perceptible reaction. In the family domain, a positive effect was observed for men when they prioritized their family. Each of the studies showed interesting results for implementing strategies that help workers harmonize their work and life without being penalized when briefly prioritizing one of them.

Title: Turkiye's double taxation treaties: Cluster analysis
Authors: Nil Tosun, Ayse
Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the 79 double taxation treaties that Türkiye has signed with various countries and provide empirical evidence of asymmetries among them. The study also highlighted the importance of neutrality in international tax policy; examined the asymmetries caused by varying definitions of concepts and withholding tax rates; and revealed the necessity of BEPS MLI for Türkiye. To conduct this analysis, the treaties were clustered according to six characteristics: (a) taxes covered by the treaty, (b) definition of permanent establishment, (c) definition of royalties, (d) withholding rates of dividends, (e) withholding rates of interests, and (f) withholding rates of royalties. Using both K-means clustering with the elbow method and a two-step clustering analysis, the results revealed substantial asymmetries among Türkiye's double taxation treaties across these six characteristics. The results should be of particular interest to policymakers and other stakeholders interested in developing treaty standardization protocols.
