Abstract (Translated):
The objective of the present paper is to analyze the Trade Defence Policy of the BICs, in the last 15 years, with emphasis to similarities and contrasts. The paper starts with the exam of the main issues of trade defence regulation as established in the GATT and the WTO. Then it moves to the evolution of initiations and application of measures for each of the BICs. Considering the importance of the Appellate Body decisions in the Dispute Settlement Mechanism, the paper examines the main panels in the area having BICs as complainants or defendants. The paper concludes with some implications of this analysis to the Trade Defence Policy of Brazil.
