Abstract (Translated):
This text contains some results of a quantitative survey, which is part of the System of Indicators of Social Perception (SIPS), coordinated by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea). This survey is about the working time - as well as about the relations between it and other kinds of time (such as those related to conservation of the household, study activities, religious cults and sports activities). There are common perceptions about these relationships among respondents of SIPS/Ipea, pointing out to the following: i) the working time affects (significantly, increasingly and negatively) the available free time; ii) this occurs not only because of the extension of working time, but also because of dilution of the boundary between work time and free time (due to mechanisms of readiness, instruments of tele-working and so on); iii) this affects the general quality of life, creating fatigue, stress and demotivation; undermining family relationships and friendships; derailing sporting activities, educational activities etc.; iv) notwithstanding, few respondents of the survey actually think about changing their occupation because of that - as a rule, the basic attitude is individual conformation with the situation.
