Abstract (Translated):
This paper aims to consider theoretically and in a preliminary way the most important features and problems concerning the concept of Developmental State, discussing the two issues that would be fundamental for its proper comprehension: (1) the issue about the objectives which characterize a Developmental State, i.e., what kind of development is aimed by a Developmental State?; and (2) which institutional means are usually employed by a Developmental State: the indirect promotion of development through the institutional environment or the direct intervention in particular institutional arrangements? Additionally, some related issues concerning the concept of Developmental State are briefly reviewed.
