Medición del riesgo de renta variable mediante modelos internos en Solvencia II

Title: Medición del riesgo de renta variable mediante modelos internos en Solvencia II

Authors: Durán Sontomil, Pablo; Otero González, Luis A.; Redondo López, José A.; Vivel Búa, M. Milagros

Abstract: This work focuses on developing an internal model for equity risk under Solvency II. We have used monthly data for the series of Ibex 35, Cac 40, FTSE 100 and Dax in the period between January 1992 and December 2008. This work fits by maximum likelihood method the model of normal returns, based on the standard model of QIS4, compared to the mixture of normal and a Markov regime switching model. The analyzed models are compared based on criteria of parsimony and normality of the residuals. Subsequently, we compared capital requirements resulting from applying these models against the standard formula of QIS4. The results showed that the funds needed to take the equity risk are dependent on the specification used.

La influencia del proceso de migración en la percepción del riesgo de crear una empresa

Title: La influencia del proceso de migración en la percepción del riesgo de crear una empresa

Authors: Bolívar Cruz, Alicia; Hormiga, Esther

Abstract: This paper analyzes the relationship between the migration experience and the perception of risk when starting a business. In order to empirically validate the hypotheses formulated, this research uses data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in Spain during 2009. The analysis made reveals that, regardless of origin, immigrants are less likely to perceive the creation of a company as a hazardous situation. These data prompt us to reflect on explanations related to the selection process before leaving their countries of origin and how immigrants change their perception of risk after the migration process. Likewise, the results obtained raises important practical implications facing the formulation of strategies and policies to foster entrepreneurship in this group.

Cultura organizacional ética y generación de valor sostenible

Title: Cultura organizacional ética y generación de valor sostenible

Authors: Ruiz Palomino, Pablo; Ruiz Amaya, Carmen; Martinez Cañas, Ricardo

Abstract: In the past few decades a large number of studies have been carried out aimed at integrating and incorporating ethics into organizations, mainly highlighting the need to enhance ethical behavior within organizations. However, none of them makes any reference in their approach concerning the value which is generated as a consequence of organizational ethics, when not only several studies have been found supporting such statement but also a theoretical justification is found based on the perspectives of the Resource-Based View of the Firm and Dynamic Capabilities. Therefore, the authors of this study, starting from a model previously designed (Ruiz-Palomino y Ruiz-Amaya, 2011), have designed an integrating model as an attempt to link an ethical organizational culture to the business value generation by means of human resources. To be precise, attention in this paper is focused on the analysis of the direct and indirect effects that an ethical organizational culture has on the value job response of the employee. Discussion of the model, managerial implications and directions for future research are finally presented.

Abstract: This research examines whether firms with different levels of export intensity differ with respect to the competitive elements that sustain their competitiveness in foreign markets, as well as on marketing strategies implemented in their commercial activity abroad. To this end, we examine a sample of SMEs belonging to a competitive agrifood industry cluster worldwide. The results show specific strategic differences in several competitive aspects linked to marketing that allow us to suggest some implications and recommendations to encourage the development and international expansion of local economies.
